Shake, shake, shimmy. You know that you soothe the aches and the troubles within me. Pretending that everything’s cool, When I’m twenty seven shades of blue, And my lips are unhappy without you. My lips are unhappy without you.
Honey suckle, you’re missing. But I make the morning dew glisten, By just hoping and wishing. Pretending that I’ve got a clue. When I’m twenty seven shades of blue, And my lips are unhappy without you. My lips are unhappy without you.
30 Day Song Challenge: Day 03 - A song that makes you happy.
“Little Secrets” // Passion Pit
This song has been making me happy for a while now. Everything about it oozes ecstasy. In a past life, I hung out with him one day after school, and on the way home, I was blasting this song, smoking a cigarette. It was one of the best highs of my life.
Chances are you’ve come across DOM’s slightly patriotic/slightly satirical(?) anthem to American culture before. With appearances on Pitchfork and Stereogum under their belt, DOM is an up-and-coming band quickly rising through the tiers of Indie music bloggery.
In the slight chance that you haven’t heard of this 3-piece collective from Massachusetts, consider this post as your unofficial introduction to your summer jam of 2010. Combining Glo-fi/bedroom-pop vocals with the hook writing sensibilities of Passion Pit, “Living in America” is crafted using the same electro-pop fuzz that made for such hot shit jams last summer. Look for this to blow up once the summer months arrive.
With a unique array of instruments (accordion, cello, banjo, kazoo, AND EVEN PEN CLICKS), The Seedy Seeds introduce a different approach to indie-electro music. Not only is their music great, they seem like cool people. Cool people. According to their myspace, their influences are beards and squaredancing. Cute. Don’t miss out on this band! They’ve already released their Roll Deep EP and I predict their fan base to grow tenfold.
