So this is just my “Before I die…” list I’ve compiled throughout the years and I just today I added #4. I know it’s not much, but I’m only 20. I’m pretty sure 20 more things will be added to this list within the next 20 years of my life.
1. Adopt a girl from China.
I watched a Lisa Ling documentary called ‘China’s Lost Girls’ when I was about 14 or 15 and it really touched my heart. I’m not one to watch documentaries and actually find them interesting, but this one really hit me. In ‘China’s Lost Girls,’ Lisa Ling follows and interviews different couples that have adopted and are going to adopt baby girls from China. There is a law set there for all families to only have one child to control the rising population rate. However, most Chinese families prefer to have a boy so that he could carry the family name. So, if a girl was to be born and the parents don’t want her, she is either abandoned, aborted or hidden. There are only a handful of orphanages that take in these little girls so that they have a chance to be with a more caring family. After watching this, it was set in my heart that I wanted to save a little girl from being an orphan for life. Here’s a link to Lisa Ling’s look back on the whole thing.
2. Own a restaurant.
This has been my life goal ever since I put a spoon in my hand. I would pretend to be in a cooking show instead of playing with Barbies. Cooking just has always been a passion of mine and owning a restaurant would just be another way to express that passion. I’m still figuring out what kind of restaurant I would own only because trends are always changing and location is so key, it’s hard to settle on one thing.
3. Sponsor a bible student.
Church is my #1priority in my life.So trying to spread the words of God is very important to me. Sometimes I give myself a little leeway because I’m the minister’s daughter, but I really do try to get my friends interested in what keeps me inspired and alive. I try not to be so crazy about my religion and scare people away and that’s probably why it doesn’t seem like I care that much, however, I really want to convert SOMEONE at one point.
4. Have a dinner beneath the stars and the Golden Gate Bridge.
So if ya’ll didn’t already know, I am in love with San Francisco. It’s such a beautiful city full of life, culture and love. About 85% of my closest friends live in the Bay Area and that’s probably another reason why I love it so much. I recently posted something I luckily stumbled upon while browsing through my daily blogs and OMG. I fell in love. Such a clever and romantic thing to do, not only with your significant other, but with your bestest friends and loved ones. If someone were to throw me a party or surprise through this way, I might just die because right when I saw it, I pretty much cried. UGH! If only I didn’t have to live so far away from somewhere so amazing. Here’s a link to what I’m talking about.
